THREE HEADS OF HEALTH TRAINING INSTITUTIONS SUSPENDED FOR CHARGING UNAPPROVED FEES

Heads of three health training schools have been suspended by the ministry of health for charging unapproved fees. The three health training institution includes: Cape Coast Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Central Region, Mampong Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Ashanti Region and School Dispensary Optics, Oyoko in the Eastern Region. The board of Mampong Nursing and Midwifery Training College was also dissolved and a new one to be set up soon.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, 31st of August 2016, the Minister of Health, Hon. Alex Segbefia raised concerns about some schools going to the extent of levying students with items including cements, electronic systems and stationary for the 2016/2017 academic year. The minister also cautioned that Health Training Institutions will continue to be monitored and action taken against other Heads of Health Training Institutions.
