GRNMA AGREES TO MEET COALITION OF CONCERNED NURSES AND MIDWIVES (CCNM) OVER INCREMENTS IN DUES AND BUILDING LEVY

Published on

It’s been 8 weeks since the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) took a decision at its 16th Biennial Delegates Conference to increase various deductions including Building Levy, Dues and Nurses Fund. This resulted in argument and disagreement among the nursing and midwifery fraternity with many of the view that increments were unnecessary since they are not benefiting enough from deductions already being made.

GRNMA INCREASES DEDUCTIONS: NURSES FUND BY 150%, BUILDING LEVY 100% AND GRNMA DUES 25%

A group called Coalition of Concerned Nurses and Midwives on Tuesday, 12th December, 2017 presented a petition with over 4,700 signatories to the National Council of GRNMA to suspend the decision of the delegates conference concerning the increment of the deductions.

The National Council of GRNMA has acknowledged receipt of the petition and in a letter dated 18th January, 2018 has agreed to meet five members of the Coalition on Wednesday, 24th January, 2018 at the GRNMA Headquarters.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the concerns raised in the petition to arrive at a final decision on the matter, according to GRNMA.
