COVID-19 VACCINATION MADE MANDATORY FOR HEALTH WORKERS EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 7

Published on

A letter issued by the Central Regional Director of Health Service, Dr. Mrs. Akosua Agyeiwaa Owusu-Sarpong has indicated that effective February 7, 2022, all health workers are required to be vaccinated before they can work.

According to the letter, the number of health workers who are hesitant in taking the vaccine is quite alarming as some who have been deployed to the frontline in the fight against the pandemic have not been vaccinated.

As part of measures to protect health staff and clients the Senior Management Committee (SMC) has agreed on January 24th to enforce the covid-19 vaccination mandate among all health staff in the central region. The Mandate will be effective from 7th February 2022 and as such health workers who have not been vaccinated will not be allowed to go to work until they show proof of vaccination. Also, staff who absent themselves from work or are prevented from working due to vaccination hesitancy for a period of up to 10 days risk losing their salary.
