The Nursing and Midwifery Council hosted representatives of Ghana Nurses’ Association of the United Kingdom on January 18th at the Council to dialogue on strengthening the existing contact and partnership between the two entities in order to extend the high regulatory standards of the Council to the members of the association in the United Kingdom.
In his welcome address the Registrar, Mr. Felix Nyante lauded the group for their initiative which also came at a good time of the era of the fourth industrial revolution during which the Council has moved further in its regulatory activities by the advantage of technological aid.
Mr. Nyante took the team through a demonstration on the usage of the various features on the NMC App while assuring the team that the Council would support and work assiduously with the Ghana Nurses’ Association of the United Kingdom to ensure higher standards of nursing and midwifery in order to project the image of the N&MC Ghana, globally.
Chairperson for the association, Mrs. Martha Nugent emphasized the need for increased professional knowledge, acquisition of more skills, and the development of a positive attitude towards work in the field of nursing and midwifery as a means to give back to society and to uphold the image of the Nursing and Midwifery profession. She added that members of the Ghana Nurses’ Association of the Kingdom are poised to support the Council and their counterparts in Ghana with their experiences acquired abroad while they also learn from them.
The team of two, comprising Mrs. Martha Nugent (President) and Madam Josephine Ababio (Vice President) expressed their joy and admiration of the successes attained by the Council in transforming and projecting the image of the training and practice of nursing and midwifery under the leadership of the Registrar Mr. Felix Nyante.
