GRNMA: 789 NURSES AND MIDWIVES TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 SINCE JANUARY 2021

According to GRNMA, about 789 nurses and midwives have tested positive for covid-19 since January. This was revealed by the General Secretary of the association on a programme on JoyNews.

Mr. David Tengkorang-Twum, General Secretary of GRNMA also stated that about 840 nurses and midwives got infected with the coronavirus last year. This makes a total of about 1,629 cases since the outbreak of the disease with 4 deaths.

He raised concerns that some of the nurses who tested positive were even called to report to work without self-isolating but has since been resolved. Also, insurance packages and incentives promised to health workers who are at the frontline and those who got infected in the line of duty have stalled. Many have not received it, had their names taken out, or received less than what promised.
