MANHYIA HOSPITAL REJECTS CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE BY NURSES LEADING TO DEATH OF A PATIENT

Published on

In a viral Facebook post, a user with profile name “Still Confidence” indicated that “Mr. Hudu Sulemana, has lost his wife at the Manhyia District Hospital in Kumasi of the Ashanti Region today, Monday, May 2, 2022. The disheartening part of it being that, his wife died as a result of intentional ‘no nurse’ syndrome.”

The man behind the viral Facebook post Isaac Nsiah Forster who was interviewed by Joy News explained that he was standing beside the woman and observed her suffering and that there was no nurse around to report the incident to a doctor.

However, the hospital has debunked claims that nurses deserted their duty posts, leading to the death of a middle-aged woman on admission. According to the management of the hospital, the post is misleading and inaccurate. The clinical care coordinator of the hospital explained that, the deceased, Humu Fuseni was admitted to the hospital on 30th April and given all the necessary care by the nurses and doctors of the Emergency department including checking of vital signs, serving of medications and requesting for the necessary laboratory investigations and thus the claim of negligence is untrue.

The Husband of the deceased in an interview with Joy News said he doesn’t have any issue with the hospital and does not believe there is any problem as the Facebook post suggests.
