The World Health Assembly in 2019 globally declared 2020 as the year of the nurse and midwife. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the WHO extended the celebration to May 2021. The Ministry of Health and the entire Nursing and Midwifery Fraternity planned a yearlong activity to celebrate nurses and midwives for their contributions towards health and development of Ghanaians.
In line with this, the National planning committee planned to organize a national nurses and midwives quiz competition for Health Training Schools and Universities in the country. The competing schools were divides among zones: northern, middle, and southern zones. The quiz competition was planned to start on 10th April, today with the Northern zone but has unfortunately been rescheduled.
A press release by the National Panning Committee for the Year of the Nurse and Midwife states that “Due to factors beyond our control, the National Panning Committee for the Year of the Nurse and Midwife regret to inform the public about the rescheduling and reorganization of the quiz structure. Participating schools in the quiz has also changed and we shall update the public of the new list of participating schools per zone.”
Below is a provisional schedule for the quiz competition;
