NURSES THREATEN STRIKE OVER UNPAID SALARIES

Some nurses at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital have threatened strike over unpaid salaries. According to the nurses (2018 Batch), they have not been paid for the past eight (8) months. The strike will commence from 1st December 2021 till their salaries are paid.

In a letter to the management of the hospital Monday, the nurses stated:

“This letter is to notify the Management of GARH that the 2018 year group will officially be on Strike from 1st December 2021 till we receive our salaries. We will remain on strike until those with Staff IDs receive their salaries and those without staff IDs receive their Staff IDs and go for their Biometric registration in preparation for their salary payment.”

“As difficult as Strike will be on the hospital, it is more difficult for employees who have nobody to rely on and yet have to sacrifice to come to work every day and feed to be deprived of their salaries for 8months. We hope to get positive feedback by the end of the month to avoid any strike.”
