- Bucket of tepid water
- Small pale
- Soap in a dish
- Towel
- Sponge
- Chair or stool
- Clean cloth or dress
STEPS #
- Establish rapport and identify patient by name
- Inform and explain procedure to patient
- Assess patient ability to assist in the procedure
- Prepare bathroom
- Collect the necessary articles and arranges them for easy access
- Send patient to the bathroom with the aid of an adaptive equipment e.g. wheelchair, zimna frame etc.
- Maintain individuality of patient by asking him/her for the correct temperature of the water
- Provide privacy
- Assist patient to undress
- Provide chair or stool in bathroom when necessary
- Allow the patient to do as much for him/herself as condition permits
- Complete the areas were patient needs assistance
- Make bed and allow patient to assume a desired position
- Collect toiletries and tidy up the bathroom
- Perform hand hygiene
- Document procedure and report any findings (manual/electronic)
