The press release states:

  • All nurses and midwives in Ghana must remain alert in the conduct of their daily routine in all clinical settings especially the Out-patient departments and Emergency units to identify suspected cases and to strictly adhere to the Universal precautions on infection prevention.
  • We reiterate the need for the Ministry of health to provide the necessary logistics required to prevent the spread of the virus at the designated Covid-19 Treatment Centers.
  • Nursing and Midwifery managers must ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are available for use by all nurses and midwives working in Isolation Units in the four designated treatment centers.
  • In the event of unavailability of these logistics at the isolation centers, we strongly advise our nurses and midwives to protect their lives by removing themselves from that environment.
  • We urge all nurses and midwives across the country to remain calm and to continue performing their duties diligently and professionally.
  • We call on the general public to remain calm and to follow all the preventive measures outlined by the Ministry of Health.
  • We assure our stakeholders that the GRNMA is committed to supporting the national coordinated efforts to identify, manage, contain and prevent the spread of the virus.
