UPNMG, The Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives, Ghana has launched a new scheme to enable its members to acquire lands in the Upper West Region. The union has secured a 50-acre (200 plots) of land, located at Sanchiga in the Wa Municipality. The Project when developed will have a police station, a clinic, and other amenities.
The Upper West Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Damien Punguyire who was at the event on Tuesday advised members of the union to take advantage of the land and housing scheme to secure their retirement. He lamented that “The time is not there, many of our senior colleagues made terrible mistakes and they are regretting it now. There are some who have gone on retirement and are still occupying government bungalows.”
The Union through the leadership of its President, Mr. Maxwel Oduro has made numerous gains since its establishment in 2017 as a registered labour union including insurance, hire purchase, health and education support, and loans members. He is confident that the investments made will succeed just like the others.
