According to the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, over 30 nurses and midwives have tested positive for COVID-19. These nurses and midwives are currently being managed at the treatment centers. In addition, over 250 are under quarantine due to their exposure to confirmed cases of COVID-19. This was made known by the President of GRNMA during the celebration of the International Nurses Day. She also stated that the number of those infected could rise as the results of those under quarantine are released.

She said “Covid-19 has forced nurses to work under great physical and psychological strain. And in many instances, lack of proper Personal Protective Equipment has added fear to the other strong and existing emotions nurses and midwives are already experiencing”
According to the GRNMA President, most of the nurses and midwives infected were not at the designated treatment centers but those at other units.
Currently, Ghana has 5,127 confirmed cases with 494 recoveries and 22 deaths.
